John Kerry For President

The New York Times has endorsed John Kerry for president in an absolutely scorching editorial rebuke of the Bush junta. It's about time the "gray lady" woke up to the reality of this administration from hell. Good reading. I only wish the Times had questioned the build up to the Iraq war instead of acting as cheerleader for the administration when the airing of opposing viewpoints could have made a difference and saved our country from the nightmare we now find ourselves in.

Here is a teaser:

We look back on the past four years with hearts nearly breaking, both for the lives unnecessarily lost and for the opportunities so casually wasted. Time and again, history invited George W. Bush to play a heroic role, and time and again he chose the wrong course. We believe that with John Kerry as president, the nation will do better.

Hi Tom,

More important is the story the NYT will be running tomorrow,
on how the US managed to allow more than 350 tons of high
explosive to fall into insurgent hands. Check out
Talking Points Memo

for more detail on this story than the Times has.

Thanks for the comment Joe. I read the article and was duly horrified. Shortly after the fall of Baghdad I remember reading about a former Iraqi nuclear facility which was looted as well. Local residents had carted off 55 gallon drums contaminated by radiation and were using them to store water for their families. This was occurring after all of the scare stories about the possibility of terrorists using "dirty bombs" against us. What facilities did our troops protect? The Iraqi oil ministry. This was the earliest admission, as far as I can tell, that this war was not about a real perceived WMD threat.

Administration incompetence is stunning, even to me!
